We have lived here for years and know all the best little spots that are still jaw-droppingly gorgeous but SUPER private, so you can savour the moment just the two of you (with us hiding in a bush capturing it all). 

Think about the timing – do you want to propose at sunset and get that golden hour goodness. Or does something else fit better with your schedule? 

Keep the Décor Simple (but Thoughtful) 

Here’s the thing: a beach proposal doesn’t need to look like a wedding aisle. Roatan has already given you one of the most beautiful backdrops in the world. You don’t need to overdo it.

That said, a few well-chosen elements can make the moment feel intentional: local flowers, a styled picnic, some champagne, that kind of thing.

What to Wear (For Both of You)

I always recommend (and can help you plan) something romantic after your proposal, so she’s already wearing something she will want to be seen in for her engagement photos. 

You don’t need to dress up like it’s a wedding, but what you wear will show up in every photo. Keep it simple and comfortable. Natural fabrics like linen or cotton are best. They breathe well and move nicely in the breeze.

For our guys, stick to soft, neutral colors like white, beige, light blue, or sage. Avoid bold patterns or big logos. If she is wearing a print, wear a solid so you don’t have print clashing. 

Most importantly, wear something you can move in—especially if you’re planning to walk, kneel, or celebrate with a run into the water afterward.

How to Keep Your Romantic Beach Proposal a Surprise 

Keeping it a surprise is where most people get tripped up, and it’s actually one of the biggest reasons people choose to hire a local planner.
