Often, the first things couples decide once they’re engaged is their wedding location. Now if you aren’t already sold on Roatan, you need to check out this blog post. But if you ARE already sold on a Roatan wedding (great choice, by the way), then you probably want to choose the best venue on the island for your wedding. Every wedding is unique, so we’ve compiled a list of our favourite Roatan wedding venues so you can pick the one that’s best for you, and then work on the second thing on your list, finding a great photographer! (Just kidding, you already found us!!)
We are Kat and Taylor MacDonald of TKM Photography, and we are passionate Roatan wedding photographers who live to to capture all the moments, the tears, the laughs, the dance moves and the memories on your wedding day at any venue you choose. Find out more about our work and style here.
In no particular order, here’s our favourite Roatan wedding venues! Click each venue name to get more information!
The Meridian at Lighthouse Point is one of my favourite places to take photos on this island. It is private, gorgeous, and because it wraps around Lighthouse Point, you get the best of the island landscapes with a soft sandy beach but also the dramatic iron shore. The resort is incredibly well maintained and spacious and will accommodate all your friends and family! The staff here are incredible and super experienced in hosting events at Meridian. You cannot go wrong here for your Roatan wedding!
We legit cannot stop talking about the location. Seriously!!! It’s the most incredible backdrop for your photos and you catch THE dreamiest sunsets right off the point. Don’t believe me? Check out this sunset elopement. PLUS you’re not far from West Bay for your guests to explore the area. Win win win!
One of our favourite luxury boutique hotels on Roatan, Xbalanque mixes a luxury feel with island vibes. Their staff are incredible and their onsite restaurant, Lotus, is to die for. Did we mention sunset views from the resort and private dock are second to none? Because they totally are.
Our favourite thing about Xbalanque is its location. Nestled between West End and West Bay, it’s private and quiet. That said, it’s only a short walk or water taxi to the action giving you the best of both worlds!
Located mid island, Las Verandas is the perfect place for your private wedding. You can get married on the beach or in their gardens, knowing their top-notch planning staff will take care of every detail. The architecture of the hotel is clean and elegant, making the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.
Our favourite thing about Las Verandas is the private beach. No vendors selling goods or loads of people walking past during your ceremony like you find at larger all-inclusive resorts.
Our favourite adults-only resort on Roatan and an unbeatable choice to host your kid-free wedding. Located on a quiet stretch of beach on the west side of Roatan, Ibagari brings a modern and luxurious twist to tropical décor providing the perfect backdrop for your photos. Their in-house restaurant is one of the best on the island. It’s no surprise that Ibagari is rated as one of the best boutique resorts in Roatan. Trust us, their wedding services live up to the same hype.
We love the attention to detail in each corner of this resort that makes each experience extra special. Selfishly, there is also not a bad angle to take a photo at this resort. Literally, everywhere you turn is perfectly curated. We don’t know how else to describe it, you just have to see it!!
Blue Roatan has always been a slam dunk in our opinion as far as luxury boutique hotels/wedding venues go. When they opened up their beach club, it just took it to the next level! Okay, so let’s start with the resort. It’s quaint, incredibly private, and tucked away in the jungle. It’s so well designed that no matter where you go, you feel like you’re the only guest there. Did we mention that each guest room has unique and original artwork? It’s just SO COOL! Their onsite restaurant, Azul, is award-winning with good reason and set in the most incredible ocean-view jungle canopy setting. Okay, now the beach club. The oceanfront deck, pools, and bar are sprawling, super aesthetically pleasing AND have a mix of covered and open-air seating making it perfect for your event or wedding.
Everything is the best part with this one! We don’t even know where to begin on the things that make Blue Roatan unique and special, so just reach out to them. That said, having a massive, covered, oceanfront setting for your wedding takes all the stress out of backup rain plans for your wedding. Did we mention it’s also GORGEOUS?! It’s just so gorgeous.
Kimpton Grand Roatan is by far the largest luxury resort on the island. If you want luxury and insane attention to detail, but also plan to have a larger wedding (100+), stop searching, you found your Roatan wedding venue. They, of course, also accommodate smaller weddings and elopements and do an incredible job of it too! Luxury vibes, high-end services, and exceptional staff make Kimpton an amazing choice for your Roatan wedding.
Kimpton has a really unique location in that it’s oceanfront on West Bay Beach, but also sprawls over the iron shore looking down on the reef at West Bay Beach. What does that mean for you? If you’re looking for a classic West Bay setting but also want some quiet moments away from the hustle and bustle, they’ve got it all. Another huge perk is that the Kimpton Grand Roatan is central to so many other great resorts, your guests will have lots of lodging options that suit all budgets within a 5-minute walk of your wedding!
A classic Roatan wedding venue and resort located right on West Bay Beach. If you’re looking for a more traditional all-inclusive Caribbean wedding experience (but located right in front of some amazing swim out snorkeling on the second largest barrier reef in the world), you found it at Infinity Bay. They’ve been hosting destination weddings for years and know what they’re doing. Your guests will love the location not only for the wedding, but for the whole time they’re on Roatan celebrating with you!
Infinity Bay offer some really cool nighttime entertainment for your guests including Garifuna dancers, a fire show, and fireworks over the ocean!
Located on the quieter end of West Bay Beach, the San Simon Beach Club and Mayan Princess Resort are an excellent Roatan wedding venue option! A super popular option for Roatan weddings, and for good reason. The location is gorgeous, the style and décor are a whole vibe, and all your guests will love staying at the Mayan Princess resort.
Mayan Princess is a really great resort and large enough to accommodate all your friends and family traveling to your wedding while still giving you a bit of privacy after the wedding if you want it!
Paradise Beach is also located on the gorgeous West Bay Beach and has three separate indoor event spaces as well as beachfront wedding options. As beautiful as West Bay is, the indoor spaces at Paradise Beach are so gorgeous and have such a chic Caribbean vibe that you might have a hard time deciding whether you want an indoor or outdoor wedding! If you’re planning to have a large indoor wedding, this venue can accommodate up to 220 guests for your reception! The resort itself is also super beautiful, with one of the most interesting poolside areas in the area.
Don’t want to worry about getting rained on even though people say rain is good luck on your wedding day? We understand. Paradise Beach Hotel’s indoor venue spaces are definitely not settling if you want to know for sure no bad weather will interfere with your dream wedding!
Luna Beach is one of the oldest resorts on the island, and recently was brought back to its original glory but with a very chic makeover. The second you walk onto the property you’re greeted with bohemian architecture and décor and original art, and you know you’ve made the right choice. Luna Beach is on a quiet stretch of beach with a gorgeous brand-new dock perfect for photos and sneaking away for a few private moments together on your wedding day.
Luna Beach also has a horse farm! So if you’re a horse lover, their well cared for and beautiful horses could also be included in your special day.
We are so happy for you and wish you all the best in planning your destination wedding! It’s never too early to choose a wedding photographer. We would love to chat more about your plans and help you make it the best day ever, even if you don’t have a date or venue yet!
