Roatan is the best destination wedding location …and here’s why

We’re obviously very passionate about Roatan – after all, we packed up and moved here!

And while we had a great wedding in Canada years ago, if we had to do it all over again today, we would want to bring our friends and family here. Here’s why.

No, onlookers were not photoshopped out of the background, this Roatan beach is just THAT private!

Roatan is not a popular wedding location…yet

It is hard to believe, but we actually got married just before Pinterest launched. (Are we old?)

I am sometimes jealous of all the Pinterest brides because there were so many ideas out there…I just didn’t know about them!

We all want our weddings to be special and unique. We want to find ways to incorporate what’s important to us in the details, for the wedding to reflect what makes us…us.

I’m sure you want that for your wedding too. So, when it comes to choosing a wedding destination, why settle for the same old, same old? You’re not like everyone else so why should your wedding be?

Skip the crowded resorts – where a bunch of strangers might be watching your wedding – and tourist traps and go for something unique.

There are attractions you won’t find in Cabo San Lucas, Florida Keys or Costa Rica

Looking for a wedding destination that offers more than just sun, sand, and sea? Roatan has you covered.

It is home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world, so it’s a diver’s and snorkeler’s paradise. Don’t want to explore the ocean? Then explore the island – the tourist areas are close together, so you can cover a lot of ground, even if you don’t have a lot of time.

In our humble opinion, part of any great trip is the food. And guys, Roatan has the food. From the world-class grilled octopus at Luna Muna by Ibagari (by the way, please get married there. It’s the BEST) to the homemade cinnamon buns at Sandy Buns, there are so many amazing local food options. (And we definitely recommend hiring local chef Dixlee Ebanks to come and cook for you. I actually dream about her conch fritters!)

(Note – since Kat has celiac, finding great food she can eat is something that we sometimes struggle with – but we have found really great options here that have been totally accommodating for her!)

This little island has everything you need in a wedding destination.

Despite being a secluded island, Roatan has everything you need to make your wedding day a success. From finding all of the things that you can at home to giving your guests an unforgettable experience, Roatan has it all.

Also, every vendor we have worked with here has been off-the-charts amazing. They are professional and reliable and understand how to combine the cultural expectations of a North American wedding with the beauty of their location.

Thinking about Roatan as your destination wedding location?
